A world where nature, innovation, and purpose collide

JUNE 22 - JULY 6, 2025
The AIPO Xperience: Palawan is your chance to dive deep into one of the Philippines’ most breathtaking islands—not just as a visitor, but as a changemaker. Over three immersive weeks, you'll explore how communities and startups are rethinking sustainability, eco-tourism, and environmental innovation—right where it matters most.

: PALAWAN

Discover the Living Laboratory:
PALAWAN

Step into Palawan, an island known globally for its pristine beauty, now at the heart of Southeast Asia’s push toward sustainable development. This is more than a destination; it’s a living classroom where social enterprises, eco-tourism ventures, and grassroots innovations are shaping the future.
With AIPO Xperience: Palawan, you'll contribute to this momentum. Work alongside founders, community leaders, and local startups that are creating real impact. From coastal clean-up technologies to regenerative tourism practices. Learn what it takes to innovate in harmony with nature, and walk away with the tools to lead with purpose.
Here's what you'll do in Palawan:
-
Immerse yourself in sustainability-centered projects tackling environmental and social challenges.
-
Work hands-on with startups and organizations advancing eco-tourism, marine conservation, and circular economies.
-
Explore the island’s unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness—while learning how local innovation meets global issues.
This isn’t just a learning experience. It’s a call to lead.

See Philippine Nature
like never before
With personalized immersion placements, you’ll contribute to local impact initiatives in Palawan. Whether it’s helping scale a social enterprise or developing eco-strategies for a tourism project, your work will make a difference.
Outside the field, you’ll experience Palawan’s culture and community—from coastal villages to conservation zones—gaining a nuanced perspective on what it means to build sustainable futures.
In today’s global landscape, few students get the chance to combine meaningful work with environmental consciousness. Real-world experience in sustainability is rare—and access to culturally rich, high-impact ecosystems is even rarer. This program changes that.

Where You'll be Staying:
Hotel Maya, Culion

Nestled atop a cliff overlooking the sea in historic Culion, Hotel Maya offers more than comfort, it offers perspective. With sweeping sunrise views, heartfelt hospitality, and steps away from cultural landmarks. Here, reflection meets exploration and offers the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations, quiet moments, and a deeper connection to the community you’ll learn from throughout your journey.

A Living UNESCO Legacy

Palawan stands as a beacon of global conservation, recognized by UNESCO for its unparalleled natural and cultural heritage. Designated as a Biosphere Reserve in 1990, the province showcases a harmonious balance between biodiversity and sustainable development. Its treasures include the Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a World Heritage Site celebrated for its unique underground river system and rich ecosystems, and the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, renowned for its pristine coral reefs and marine biodiversity. These accolades underscore Palawan's commitment to preserving its environment, offering students an immersive experience in a region where nature and culture thrive in unison.

Experience Culion: History, Hope, and Human Impact

Once known as the “Island of the Living Dead,” Culion was the world’s largest leprosy colony in the early 1900s. Today, it stands as a symbol of human dignity and scientific progress. The Culion Sanitarium and Museum—recognized by the International Leprosy Association—tells this profound story. Walking its halls, students gain insight into global public health history and the resilience of communities once marginalized, yet now celebrated for their strength and transformation.
