On October 30th, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) conducted an Intellectual Property (IP) awareness session for the Technopreneurship class of Dr Erees Queen Macabebe from the Department of Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering, School of Science and Engineering. This session is part of their initiative to equip engineering students with foundational knowledge about IP protection and the Ateneo IP policy.

Led by AIPO's Protection and Education Group, including Ms Vanessa Malapit and Ms Madielaine Fatallo, the session focused on the critical role IP plays in technology-driven ventures. Students learned about various forms of IP—patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, and copyrights—and how these assets can be leveraged to foster commercial success in their entrepreneurial pursuits.
Mr Bryan Erfe from AIPO's Commercialization and Business Incubation Group also provided insights into the Ateneo IP policy, emphasizing how university-supported research, technology transfer, and commercialization systems can help safeguard innovations. The session encouraged students to integrate strategic IP planning early in their development processes, showcasing how IP protection can become a competitive advantage and fuel the growth of their ventures.

Some examples of Ateneo innovations were shared, illustrating how IP protection accelerates commercialization. This approach sparked collaboration among students, emphasizing that IP is not just a legal concept but a powerful tool for entrepreneurial success.

The session ultimately empowered students to view IP as an essential aspect of their entrepreneurial journey, not just for legal protection but as a means to turn ideas into marketable solutions. With a focus on driving innovation and societal impact, students were encouraged to engage with AIPO and leverage the University's resources to advance their innovations toward success.

Great that the AIPO is bridging policy education with actual technopreneurship coursework—having clear Section 6 ownership guidelines right from the start saves so much friction later. I've been using https://omni-gemini.net
This policy is exactly what student inventors need—ownership clarity in section 6 is a game-changer. I've been using https://samaudiolab.com
Great to see AIPO walking through the ownership and scope sections with the technopreneurship class. This kind of hands-on breakdown makes the IP policy much more actionable for student founders. I've been using https://aiphotoassistant.com
This is great timing — the Ateneo's clear ownership rules in Section 6 are exactly what student inventors need to avoid headaches later. I've been using https://hy-3d.net
It's interesting how many different ways schools are approaching IP education these days! I was just thinking about how helpful it would be for students to see practical applications of what they're learning. For example, I've been exploring Omni Flash lately, and it's amazing how AI can help bring creative ideas to life for content creators. Do you think a tool like that could fit into an IP protection curriculum down the line? Just a thought!
