AIPO holds an IP Awareness session in collaboration with the Ateneo Law School

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

On August 23, 2022, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), in collaboration with the Ateneo Law School (ALS), held an awareness session on Intellectual Property (IP) entitled, "Understanding IP Basics: Emphasis on Copyrights." This was done as part of the ALS module, Ethical and IP Issues: Guarding against Plagiarism.

The learning session was held online and was attended by eighty-two (82) law students together with the faculty members from Ateneo Law School (ALS).

Presented by Ms Vanessa Malapit, the Head of the Protection and Education Group (PEG) of the AIPO, the main objectives of the webinar were to (1) educate the participants on the basics of intellectual property (IP), which covered the concept of IP and the importance of patents, utility models, industrial designs, and trademarks; and (2) to further discuss and emphasize the fundamentals and limitations of copyright.

At the end of the session, the participant's understanding of the subject was enriched, and the emphasis on the topic was made clear to them. In addition, the webinar was well-received by the audience, as seen in the evaluation forms. Hopefully, we can expect more collaborations like this in the future!
