Ateneo Intellectual Property Week 2026: IP and Sports – Ready, Set, Innovate!

The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) invites the Ateneo community and the public to join Ateneo Intellectual Property (IP) Week 2026, happening April 13–17, 2026, at Escaler Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.

Celebrated annually in connection with World Intellectual Property Day 2026, Ateneo IP Week highlights the importance of intellectual property in shaping innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. This year’s theme, “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!”, explores the growing intersection of sports, esports, technology, and intellectual property.

From athlete branding and sports technologies to esports, gaming, and digital content, intellectual property plays a vital role in protecting ideas and enabling innovation across the sports ecosystem. Through a week of engaging activities, Ateneo IP Week aims to bring together students, researchers, athletes, entrepreneurs, innovators, and industry partners to learn more about how intellectual property supports the future of sports and creative industries.

Participants can look forward to insightful discussions, interactive activities, and opportunities to engage with experts and innovators who are shaping the future of sports and technology.

Day 1 — April 13

IP and Sports: The Role of IP in the Sports Industry

The opening day introduces participants to the role of intellectual property in the sports industry and challenges students to test their knowledge of IP through an exciting quiz competition.

Day 2 — April 14

IP in Sports: Protecting the Innovation that Shapes the Game

This session explores how intellectual property protects innovations that drive advancements in sports — from equipment design and sports technology to branding and commercialization.

Day 3 — April 15

Esports and Intellectual Property

As esports continues to grow globally, this session will examine the role of intellectual property in gaming, streaming, digital content, and esports organizations.

Day 4 — April 16

IP Forward >> Ready, Set, Protect: IP in the World of Sports

Day 5 — April 17

Culmination Activity

AIPO hopes to encourage students, researchers, and innovators to recognize intellectual property as a powerful tool for protecting ideas, enabling creativity, and driving innovation.
