AIPO–IP Quiz Bee Competition Showcases Student Knowledge and Awareness of Intellectual Property

The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), recently held the AIPO–IP Quiz Bee Competition, an activity originally planned as part of Ateneo IP Week 2026 in April. Following its postponement, the competition was successfully conducted on August 12, 2026, at Room 223, PIPAC Building, Ateneo de Manila University, carrying the IP Week 2026 theme, “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate!”
The AIPO–IP Quiz Bee Competition aimed to provide students with an engaging platform to test and strengthen their knowledge of intellectual property. The competition covered various IP areas, including patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, IP myths and facts, notable innovations, and selected IP cases.
The competition featured three rounds that challenged participants through individual and team-based activities. The Final Round, an Enumeration Round, brought an exciting conclusion as team representatives competed to answer questions on intellectual property, with the race to the bell adding an element of speed and excitement to the competition.
Throughout the event, participants demonstrated their knowledge, quick thinking, teamwork, and sportsmanship, reflecting the spirit of the competition and this year’s theme. The Quiz Bee also highlighted the relevance of intellectual property in sports, where creative works, distinctive brands, innovative technologies, and designs contribute to the development of the sports industry.
After the completion of the three rounds and verification of the final scores, Team 1 emerged as the Champion of the AIPO–IP Quiz Bee Competition.
The winning team will represent Ateneo de Manila University in the 2026 IP CIRCLE League, scheduled for October 26, 2026. The IP CIRCLE League is organized by the IP Academy of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).
The AIPO–IP Quiz Bee Competition underscores AIPO’s commitment to fostering intellectual property awareness and cultivating a culture of innovation, creativity, and responsible IP stewardship among students. Through initiatives such as this, the Office continues to encourage students to recognize the value of intellectual property in protecting and developing ideas that can contribute to society.
