On September 5, 2024, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO) held a Design Thinking Workshop for Eight8Ate Holdings, Inc. in Tagaytay City as part of Eight8Ate’s 5-year strategic planning.
Focused and concise, the workshop facilitated by Ms Mariela Alcaparas and Mr Steve Chaves of AIPO was designed to introduce a human-centered approach to designing innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities they were going to face. The workshop provided the company's teams with essential tools for designing their future plans and initiatives.
Established in 2018, Eight8Ate operates Conti's and Wendy's in the Philippines, managing 74 and 70 stores respectively. Led by CEO Joey R. Garcia, a veteran restaurateur with over 30 years of experience, the company continues its expansion armed with its vision: "To Be A Leading Food Brand Operator Recognized for Delighting Generations."
The workshop was direct in its methodology. Through empathy exercises, participants mapped stakeholder interactions, identified gaps, and transformed challenges into "How Might We" (HMW) statements. Grouped by brand—Conti's, Wendy's, Restaurant Solutions, and Masuma—teams examined various opportunities for growth and improvement, which laid a foundation for the company’s strategic planning.
The AIPO is excited to see how Eight8Ate will integrate the outcomes of this session into their future offerings, maintaining its focus on customer experience and operational excellence.
