The Ateneo de Manila University, through the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), participated in the IP C.I.R.C.L.E League 2026 competition organized by the IP Academy of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The competition was held on October 26, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) in Taguig City.

This year’s IP C.I.R.C.L.E. League comprised two (2) different competitions, including The Quiz, a knowledge and skills competition that aimed to enrich the IP learning experience of students; and The Debate, which aimed to uncover and openly discuss gray areas in the intellectual property laws of the country through a healthy exchange of ideas in the form of debate following a modified Oregon-Oxford format.

The competition brought together student teams from colleges and universities nationwide to compete on their knowledge of intellectual property. The Ateneo team ranked sixth overall among 26 participating schools in the semi-final round.

Representing the Ateneo were Hazel Borlagdan (4 BS MGT), Vince Rose Biliran (4 BS LM), and Valerie Cassie Tang (4 BS LM). Ms Vanessa Malapit, Ms Madielaine Fatallo, and Ms Charity Maquiling of AIPO’s Protection and Education Group coached the team and guided the students in their preparation for the competition.

Beyond the ranking, Ateneo’s performance in the IP C.I.R.C.L.E. League 2026 highlights the University’s commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation and responsible intellectual property stewardship among its students. It also reflects Ateneo’s broader mission of forming future-ready professionals equipped to lead in an increasingly dynamic innovation landscape.
